Did you visit campus before choosing UE? What did you think about UE after that visit?

Yes, I visited campus once on a Purple Friday before I started my undergraduate. I had grown up going to Purple Aces basketball games with my dad and had many fond memories of it. After Purple Friday, I was convinced that it was a perfect fit due to the meeting with Dr. Kopta and sitting in on one of Dr. Becker's neuroscience classes.

Why did you choose to attend UE's PsyD program over other graduate/doctoral programs?

I chose UE's PsyD program due to the close proximity to my friends and family, the focus on diversity, professors that were hired and had interests in childhood trauma and child psychology and being the inaugural cohort of a program. I am confident all of this will help me be successful.

What advice would you share with students going through the college search for graduate/doctoral programs?

I would advise students to focus on what the professors are interested in, study the GRE with textbooks but do not feel like you need to spend too much money, and spend a lot of time volunteering and working with the populations that bring you joy. I remember sharing about my interest, and experience in working with the Latino community and helping to combat stigma.

Why do you recommend UE?

I recommend UE due to the small cohort sizes, caring professors, and passionate students that you get to work with. The campus is also very beautiful. The professors have listened to ideas that I have suggested and have given amazing feedback.

Hobbies?

I enjoy reading, painting, trying unique foods, and traveling. I also like to spend time with my pitbull Leo and my best friends. I am also working on improving my level of fluency in Spanish.
